How to submit an artwork for authentication?

In order to obtain a certificate of authenticity, the applicant must physically present the work to the Comité Marc Chagall: the examinations are made exclusively in the presence of the artwork(s), and in no case on the basis of photographic documents alone.

The Comité Marc Chagall is a non-profit organisation. Insofar as the operation of the association, the management of its archives as well as the storage and examination of the artworks entail significant costs, a contribution to these costs is requested when establishing a certificate of authenticity.

The amount of the contribution to the costs requested for the establishment of a certificate of authenticity amounts in 2023 to 1,700 euros excluding tax.

For the authentication of graphic works such as engravings, lithographs or serigraphs, please contact Marc Lebouc, expert of the Galerie de l'Institut in Paris and mandated by the CMC to do so.
